The Haiti Child Sponsorship Program serves over 1,200 children of Pele, one of the poorest areas in the hemisphere’s poorest country. There is no other school in Pele and food is scarce. The Good Shepherd School (or École Baptiste Bon Berger in Haitian Creole), which receives all of its funding from Child Sponsorship, provides a glimmer of hope to an utterly impoverished community.
The earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010, damaged or destroyed much of our school. Please click here for the latest news. Six months after the earthquake, we are still focused on providing food, water, and education to as many students as possible. Students are being taught under tarps and temporary structures. With the help of a non-profit architecture design firm we hope to begin rebuilding this fall. Click here to view the current plans for reconstruction.
Once rebuilt, the Good Shepherd will continue and expand its mission to provide a quality education from Haitian teachers, basic health care, and one hot meal per day to its students––for many, their only meal. We are dedicated to fulfilling Christ’s call to serve “the least of these.” Please consider becoming a sponsor online today or making a one-time donation to help God’s children in Pele.
For $25 per month, you can help save a child in Haiti.
